Riya commentary

Michael , Jeff , and Robert picked up on our comments about continuing to be independent. Rumors are rumors....and the valley is full of them.

These guys are too nice to us. I am continually amazed at the support the blogosphere gives us. You guys are great!

As always peter is supportive . Peter just doesn't fit the VC stereotypes (in a good way).

I believe we can build Riya into a big company. Image search today is horrible. There is more opportunity here than many other places on the web. Riya was the first to really try to solve this problem. We are staying focused on this problem and know we will be the first to market in this arena. Watch out world little Riya is roaring to go....;-)

Hi Munjal,

I have been closely following the growth of Ojos / Riya, and I do believe you can build Riya into a great company. Facial recognition couple with image search is a killer app! I wish you the very best!!

I do wonder if you recollect, that we met during your days during Andale, in Bangalore, when you were building your team there. I had the opportunity to hire for Andale some great UI designers and Technology professionals. Am still in touch with Sowmya, now that she has moved to Ojos.

Clearly, Riya stands out from the crowd. Am looking forward to the demo in feb.

Cheers
Ajit

Killer app? Hardly. What do you do with this? Collect all the pictures of Bill Gates on the web? Find all the pictures of a certain cousin on your hard drive?

I can see some areas where it would be useful, such as security points at airports or public buildings. Other than that, it's a "cool" application, like Google Earth. If you need to go somewhere, you just print the map and directions or put it in the satnav. Goggle Earth does not have much in the way of practical applications, but it sure is cool as hell to cruise over Area 51 or Benghazi, Libya or Diana Ross' spread near Monte Carlo. There goes another half an hour. Maybe someone could put together paparazzi tours and sell a few cents' worth of ad clicks or something, but it's hardly earth-shattering.

Or am I missing something?

Speaking of killer apps, yahoo is a killer app. Make people able to create their own yahoo! That would be a killer app.

Gnome sayin? :)

Dude,
The http://www.riya.com server is down. If the web server can't be kept up, kinda makes you think about the reliability of the product..

Sorrry about going off topic, but Deven is sooooo cute! =)

Hi Munjal,

I am a grad student at University of Maryland (College Park) working in the area of Computer Vision with focus on illumination-invariant face recognition.

Riya came as a pleasant surprise to me. I have been thinking of a similar application for quite sometime. When I tried searching for image galleries which provide automated face recognition utility, I found Riya. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=personal+image+gallery+face+recognition&btnG=Search)

I went through the staff and other related pages. It seems like the dream place for me to work at. Could you please let me know if it is possible for me to be part of your research group even now...I can mail you my resume or you can find most of the details on my webpage http://www.cs.umd.edu/~gaurav

Thanks for your time,
gaurav

Riya
I've read an article about your face recognition software in Veja, a brazilian magazine. I think it is superinteresting and I Would like to be a member of your beta team, if possible. I live in Brazil, computer is my hobby and I just retired from being president of Alcoa Aluminum so I have a lot of free time. Can I join?
Thank you
Fausto Moreira

Peter Rip is ripping his LP's money investing in junk like this. What do you do with this. If some dumb ass consumer internet company buys this, then shame on them. And he rails against Sevin Rosen in his blog. Yikes!!!!

I don't get it...

He could have some done due diligence on....
