Thank you all for your participantion in Alpha 2. Almost 400 people participated and about 151 people responded to our survey about Alpha 2. We asked four main questions amongst 26 total questions
Question 1) Did we find enough people in your photos?
Question 2) Was the recognition good enough
Question 3) Would you recommend Riya to a friend
Question 4) What do we need to do before we let more people into the alpha
What you said:
Answer 1: No - we need to find more faces - especially side views. We are working full speed to improve this.
Answer 2: Almost 2/3rds of you said it was. Frankly we are not satisfied with the accuracy ourselves. We will continue to improve it.
Answer 3: The graph below shows 88.9% of you would recommend Riya to a friend. We are very touched by this.
Answer 4: You told us to fix the following items before we get more people in:
- Our uploader is still too buggy (we have a new version we believe fixes most issues)
- Our navigation could be simpler (we are redesiging it right now)
- Our UI for assigning names to faces is too clunky (we have a new UI for this)
- A few other items that we are working to fix.
We will wrap as many of these issues into our Alpha 3 release and will move forward again. Thank you all for your feedback.

WHERE IS THE MAC SUPPORT?
Not alone do you not have an uploader for the Mac - you are now financially discriminating against Mac users (http://www.tomrafteryit.net/riyas-discriminates-financially-against-mac-users-cannot-qualify-for-remuneration/) - astounding!
Are Microsoft one of your backers? Or why are you offering to pay people who use Windows only?

Give them a break! I don't think its discrimination, rather they just havent got round to doing mac support yet. Remember its only in soalphaithurts stage atm!

Andrew,
I realise that it is in alpha - I still think it is discriminatory to be paying Windows users to test the system but denying Mac users the same opportunity to earn some money for trying the software.
In effect Riya are paying people for using Windows.

I feel it's really out of the blue to think like this. Riya stated that is in their very Alpha state.
And of course they need to improbe their recognition technology make it better as soon as possible. 99 % of users are on windows. PERIOD.
So What's the deal on start posting this kind of financial discrimination ?
So Skype is also discriminating me and I pay them for making calls. I tell you their linux version Sucks and I could never use it.
I'm a linux user also. Just 've a XP at home in a notebook and that's why I started testing this. But c'mon, I won't be crying just because it 's not being supported on linux!
Get a old machine, install any version of windows, plug in a monitor and that's it! You 've a Riya client uploading photos all day until the other versions came out.

Movil,
The cost of a Windows Licence is more than the remuneration - it wouldn't pay me to follow your suggestion.

do you know why mac users are discriminatd against? seriously, do you? because they are stupid. they pay more and get less. then they run to other people and tell them how pleased they are with their overpriced poorly-designed, feature-devoid pieces of crap. oooh, don't forget the shiny aluminum. ooh, don't forget the lousy ergonomics. ooh, don't forget to accessorize with the crippled overpriced monomedia player called the ipod. talk about dumb.
but look on the bright side. you paid more. in short, macs suck. people who buy them are stupid. go whine elsewhere.
