My day today

8:00 am: Woke up - Deven and I ate some boiled eggs together
9:00 am: Drove to work
9:30 am: Read email - noticed Om's rumor about us.
9:40 am: Had to call the wife about Om's "O'Riya O'Riya" allusion. My knowledge of Hindi film songs is bit rusty ... she explained it and now I get it...;-)
9:30-10am: Read the rest of my emails
10am: Had a meeting on the alpha 2 release. Next week we expand the alpha to 1000 people
12pm: The production site had an out of memory error - not sure when it happened. We all worked on it - ordered in Pizza for the team since we didn't have time to leave.
1pm: Met with an image similarity company from So Cal. Not sure if friend or foe, but I really liked the guy - he seemed grounded and genuine.
3pm: Shel calls me to say that the Om rumor had now made it's way to the home page of technorati and memeorandum....
3:15pm: Tara tells me we now have 5000 requests for our alpha. That the rumors are driving up alpha requests a ton. That's cool... ;-)
3:30pm: Andrea is in the office she is our super consultant who does almost everything and today is preparing for the party tomorrow. You know with Andrea, the job will always get done. One of the projectors are bad so we will have to do with one.
4pm: Met with my friend Virag Saksena on his new Java monitoring solution. Very cool stuff. He has no 64 bit Java VM version right now.
4:45pm: Vijay calls upset. Deven fell on the playground. He hit his mouth on a steel bar. He cried for 10 mins. She asked if I can come home early. I say yes I'll be home as soon as possible
5pm-6:30pm - Few more meetings about next week's Alpha 2 release - trying to leave desperately
7pm - Home and dinner - Deven is asleep
7:30pm write this post while eating dinner at the computer - spaghetti.

Deven just woke up crying ... gotta go.

Om rumor? Oh pluuuuzeee. You get Shel and Scoble to drop hints all over the net and then are "suprised" when the "rumors" happen; yet rejoicing when it hits Technorati and Memeorandum and happy that the "rumors are driving up alpha requests". But I had hints before Shel and Scoble blabbed to the world, even so.

Robbing Google and Yahoo, the only two plausible buyers. MS doesn't buy, and Diller and Murdoch are in the market but for bigger properties. Google taking on Flickr is the only play I see, some trick-dog gimmick like Riya, is what they think they need.

I think that Google shuold buy out this start-up because

1) They need to compete Yahoo and beat the Microsoft.
2) They need better site than Flickr.
3) It's Google who will advertize on this Riya's Pages so its like more money if they get more people coming to it.
and finally, 4) ~$60 million is pocket change for google.
